Sewing and More Sewing

Autumn has arrived and the leaves are now putting on a glorious show. It's a lovely time of year I love it when all the trees start to change colour every day it seems. I drive though a woodland area most days and if the sky is blue the trees seem to glow. I collected a few and popped them in a vase on the kitchen table to enjoy the colours inside as well.
I have autumn /winter orders coming in now as well as winter weddings which I personally love working on as it normally requires wool felts and more sculptural pieces.
I also have to get ready for some up coming events, The Art Market in Holmfirth Nov 23rd/24th
East Riddelston Hall Wedding fair Sunday 10th Nov, a local charity fashion show next Friday and my own Christmas fair which is always the first Sat of December as I celebrate another year at the shop.
I did hear on the radio just how many weeks until Christmas it is today, but I tried to ignore it.!
I almost forgot to say do you like my new business cards.?

The Story of the Parrot

Several weeks ago, a lovely lady came in to discuss what she might wear on her head for her wedding. She had very interesting plans for colouring her hair, and with a sharp elfin haircut she was able to carry off many styles. After careful consideration she decided that she liked the medium sized tilted topper the most. So the next issue once the shape was decided, we then turned our attention to the colours.
The shoes that had been chosen to wear with the wedding dress had subdued rose pinks, soft limes and soft neutrals.
I had the exact pink in Sinamay which I blocked the main body of the hat from. I then trimmed it in a pink silk and the parrot was hand made from soft faux suede.
The theme of the wedding most definitely centered around the parrot including the wedding stationery which was hand drawn and printed by local artist Julia Ogden
Her bridesmaid wore the little parrot headband covered in the same pink silk.
I'm looking forward to Mrs Parrot coming back to show me her photographs.

Disco wedding shoot

A couple of weeks ago I was involved with a disco wedding shoot that my pal the very clever Shelly Mantovani pulled together with many other talented people to create this Disco styled wedding shoot for the The Faversham in Leeds.
Like all shoots there are many hiccoughs along the way but on the day it all came together in one glorious glittery bang.
I made a bell hop hat with a cherry trim, Disco headdress, a red visor, sinamay crown and a bridal martini froth.
We had a lots of laughing throughout the day and this is a small selection of images.
